ALBUM OF THE YEAR.

The original plan was to do this whole big thing about multiple albums being my albums of year. Then I thought to myself there was only one true album that would get that lovely title and it's Neon Indian fantastic second cd Era Extrana.

This has a futuristic yet 80's feel to it and that could be the sole reason I was drawn to it. Like literally the only two things I can think of when this album is being listed to is Terminator One and the sun setting. You try listening to the track Era Extrana without thinking of the sunset, good luck. Halogen (I Could Be a Shadow) could have easily been the background music at the end of The Breakfast Club(sorry Simple Minds). Another good note about this made by Pitchfork is the fact that it sounds exactly like M83's Kim and Jesse.

Buy this album... or download it.. do what you need to do to get it, you'll be left behind if you don't.

Hex Girlfriend

Halogen (I Could Be A Shadow)

darling st.valentine.

As you may know Valentine's Day is right around the corner and I figured that a mix of some lovely songs would help you and your other out. These may not be the most romantic of songs but they are in heavy rotation for me this time of year. Songs from Prince and Morris Day & The Time are always a treat but these in particular are for Valentine's Day. It would of been very easy to choose Careless Whisper for my Wham! song but i felt that Every Thing She Wants is more appropriate. Not to feel left out any Theophilus London's Cold Pillow is a chill LONELY Valentine's Day song haha. You'll be thanking me for Digital Underground's Kiss Me Once I'll Kiss You Back if you've never heard it before. Two words, Tainted Love..I feel that the Gloria Jones version is 83 times better than Soft Cell's 1981 hit version of it. You Decided.

Prince & The Revolution - Darling Nikki

Morris Day & The Time - Fishnet

Wham! - Everything She Wants

Theophilus London - Cold Pillow

Digital Underground - Kiss Me Once I'll Kiss You Back

Gloria Jones - Tainted Love

Oh and for the hell of it here's some U2 - Two Hearts Beat As One

SOUL

There's just some days when you need to listen to music that's good for the soul and for myself today is one of those days. James Brown's Papa Don't Take No Mess is pretty much my own theme song, that's right. You'll be getting a double dose of Marvin Gaye in this post which is always a good thing. Come Live With Me Angel will sound familiar to some of you because it was sampled by G-Unit (hello, 2003) in 'Wanna Get to Know You". Also Jill Scott happens to be my weakness when it comes to female voices (along with Chaka Khan and one song from Queen Latifah) and the song that made me first realize it was "A Long Walk".

Common - Break My Heart

Jill Scott - A Long Walk

Sweetback - You Will Rise

James Brown - Papa Don't Take No Mess

Queen Latifah - Just Another Day

Marvin Gaye - I Want You

Marvin Gaye - Come Live With Me Angel

John Legend - Used to Love You (9th Wonder Remix)

Aloe Blacc - I Need A Dollar
